Track 12: Holten to Laren - 15.3 km / 18 Photos

Today I will hike a trail of the Pieterpad with my sister! I will take the train to Arnhem and she will get in at Ede-Wageningen.
From Arnhem we traveled by trian via Deventer to Holten where we started with a lunch before the walk.
After we completed the hike in Laren we enjoyed a drink on a terrace and a dinner inside the restaurant. After dinner a bus from the stop in front of the restaurant took us to Deventer and from there we traveled back home together the same way as we came.

Church built in 1832 to replace the medieval church destroyed by fire. The completely plastered Gothic tower of three sections; constricted, slate-covered spire was built in 1913

After 2 hours and 40 minutes travel by Public Transport it is nice to have a lunch served before we start the hike

Outside the village of Holten we walk on this dirt road with a farm field in bloom mid October

At various locations along the Pieterpad, private individuals and farmers often provide rest areas with drinks, farm produce and toilet facilities for a small fee

We approach the Schipbeek, which used to be an important waterway to the east, but was canalised in the 20th century and provided with weirs to prevent the many floods

The walk along the dike of the Schipbeek is picturesque because of the large beech trees on both sides

When we cross the Schipbeek to move south to Holten we see the radiotower if Markelo in the far distance
