Track 8: Coevorden to Ane - 12.9 km / 24 Photos

On this beautiful September day I am looking forward to another day of hiking that starts in
the province of Drenthe and finishes in the province of Overijssel.
Unfortunately my artrose ancles have other ideas and even a long lunch after about 10 kilometer does not give
me enough rest so that after 12.9 km I call it the day and start my travel home by bus and train.

It is almost invisible, but the path continues along the ditch here

But soon the path runs through a cultural-historical area of the Kleine Vecht river valley

The statue "Drentse Poort" by sculptor Rob Schreefel serves as a transition to the Overijssel part of the Vechtdal

This private farmers service road on the side of a drainage canal is open for hikers following the trailroute

To give my painful arthritic ankles some rest, I enjoy an extensive sandwich lunch and a good glass of wine

The town also has a beautifully preserved old center

On the northwestern edge of the center there is another dammed bend in the river Vecht

Near the place where I cross the river, a drainage channel flows into the river on the left

The monument of the Battle of Ane where I decide not to walk any further after 12.9 km because of the pain in my ankles and wait for the bus to Gramsbergen station
